Ever wondered why a crab is the symbol of cancer? May be its the silent attack that crabs are known for. May be its the pain that crab's claws causes. Either way cancer is a disease that brings fear in the minds of all. Cancer is a disease caused by a few misguided cells that leads to an uncontrolled growth of cells causing destruction to body tissues.
Diagnosing cancer happens mostly when a lump or an unusual change in the physiology is suspected and the doctor proceeds for a biopsy or an imaging tests. Since the cancerous cells can be found in any place in the body, the detection methods vary in each case. The treatments available for cancer is a combination of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy. Since cancer in each individual varies in location and size, the treatment cannot be generalized or pre-planned. New methods are always tried and it sometimes works.
Why do we have to look at the disease before even having it? See, one of the features of cancer is that it is silent. We need to be vigilant and be aware of any change that our body comes to have. All the studies clearly states that the chances of survival is much greater for those who are detected with cancer in their stage 1 phase. We are trying our best to bring forward the latest technologies for the public to detect cancer at the earliest stages.
The exact cause for any cancer is not certain. Both environmental factors and genetic factors play equally important role in determining the birth of cancer. Environmental factors like usage of tobacco, alcohol consumption, radiation (ionizing or non-ionizing), viruses, infections, excessive fat accumulation/obesity, lack of exercise, stress, certain chemical/metals and even environment pollutants are found to be triggering factors for cancer.
